Mai Yamada was born in Tokyo in 1990 and started playing the piano at the age of 3. She has played as soloist with London's Knightsbridge Philharmonic, Kaposoka Symphony of Angola, and artists including Yuki Ito and Edmund Hartzell. In addition to her busy schedule in Japan, she has given recitals in London every year since 2016, and been invited to international music festivals in France and Spain. She has also given premieres of works dedicated to her.

She released her debut album "Damase Piano Works" in December 2017, which is receiving great acclaim worldwide. She widely introduces Damase's works through her international activities including giving a recital to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the composer on his birthday in Tokyo.

She studied with Yukio Yokoyama, Billy Eidi and Ashley Wass, and graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo and Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris.
